Today, the 08-09 NBA season starts. Â Every fall when the new season starts I get a comforting feeling of joy. Â Not sure how many of our readers here are basketball fans, but, I love it. Â I love playing, watching, reading. Â I’ll admit I’m not a stats junkie, or fantasy sports fanatic, but I will keep up around the league and sit down and watch a good game, and I’m definitely looking forward to another exciting 8 months of bball.
The team I follow and root for the most is the Houston Rockets. Â I’ll admit, it started with Yao back in 2002 (Look at that picture, they had to extend the photo another inch just to fit him!) I was just so excited for the first real Chinese allstar in the NBA that I woulda loved any team he was on. Â (C’mon, what asian guy wasn’t stoked?) And then Tracy McGrady (one of my fav players in the NBA) joined the team in ’04, so it just made me love the Rockets more. Â Anyway…yes, I’m really looking forward to a powerful year from them, and hopefully a healthy one too (pllleeease no injuries). Â With Artest on board too, it looks promising (assuming he behaves).
And of course, there are the Golden State Warriors. Â Man, I remember going to their games when I was in high school back when they were horrible! It was still fun to go though. Â The last couple years have been exciting for them, but I’m not so sure how this one is gonna be with Baron Davis gone, and Monta Ellis out for 30 games. Â sigh. I am from the Bay Area, so my heart is still with them. Not a fan of the orange jersey’s tho, =P
Finally, since we do live in LA, I will put on the record that, no, I’m not a fan of the Lakers. Â I don’t hate them or wish ill will upon them…but let’s just say, I was rooting for Boston last June during the finals. Â Kobe, definitely an MVP, but there are other allstars I’d side with. Â I’m just saying. Â haha, please no hate mail.
Alright, I’m done. I wonder how many people even care about what I just wrote, lol. Â
While we’re on the topic of basket ball…here’s a video for old times sake.Â
*No, I’m nothing like that when I play…not all the time at least. Â jk
Goodnight.

Happy Birthday Phil!
yea basketball’s pretty interesting, although i dont have time to keep up with the games. id love to go to watch a game at some point, (: if possible. yea im pretty sure asians would be psyched and cheer for the team that has an asian on it- well that’s what asian parents do, no matter what sport. =.=;; i love the “BALLERR” video! ive watched it so many times because of the comedy and everything about it. ^^ oh and to democracy, it’s called an a**pack but in more polite terms- a buttpack. sometimes it’s worn on the shoulder though. :T
October 28, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Dude, I’m totally psyched for this season even though my team (Dallas) isn’t doing so well… or at least, in the preseason anyway. Thursday night’s gonna be amazing, and just so you know, don’t get your hopes up cuz the Mavs are gonna crush your boy Yao.
jk.
But it will be a good game.

October 28, 2008 at 8:06 am
I’m not a huge sports fan, but I’d have to say basketball is my favorite. It’s not like soccer where they only score like, 4 times a game. You’re constantly cheering or booing in basketball. ^^
happy birthday phil!!!
heh Disneyworld in one week?? wahh jealous.
and hey, a newly recruited Wongfu fan says you look like
劉畊宏
xD!
October 28, 2008 at 6:49 am
ooh yah! happy bday! *bakes a yummy cake*
October 28, 2008 at 6:16 am
Birthday Boy? WOW. Happy Birthday!!
And though I’m not too much of basketball fan, I still enjoy watching the NBA from time to time. However, I’m usually only updated with the Toronto Raptors. I prefer NHL over NBA haha despite the fact that I don’t really play hockey and haven’t watched it in ages. But woot for sports!
October 28, 2008 at 4:38 am
Phil’s birthday? Woaaaaah! Happy birthday, baller.
October 28, 2008 at 4:37 am
I don’t follow the NBA all the way down here at the bottom of the world, but I follow the ANBL, which has been going for about a month. Supporting the New Zealand Breakers of course… they’re finally doing well. Kirk Penny’s an ex-NBA player, was with the Timberwolves about three years ago. Travelling all the way to Melbourne for the Tigers versus Spirit in January too.
…and probably nobody will understand or care, but hey! It’s sports!
October 28, 2008 at 4:11 am
Basketball… I should pay more attention to it since pretty much every guy watches it… -dies-
Sheng ri quai le!! n_nv

October 28, 2008 at 3:45 am

But I guess go the Rockets!!? haha
Btw, Happy Birthday Phil.. Hope you have a good one.

where i’m from, we go crazy from august till may because that’s when the football season starts. no, i refuse to call it soccer. it’s FOOTBALL. ok? =P
and no worries, being a sports fan is to wax lyrical about your team and your love for the game even when no one cares or understands. haha. i can relate!
