The Road to Wong Fu’s Next Movie: An Introduction – Phil

As you might know, Wong Fu has a lot on our plates. From creating shorts and music videos to share with our fans, improving and building our website to be bigger and better, designing for our t-shirt brand and maintaining the store…it’s more than our job, it’s 24/7, it’s life.  But just as musicians have full studio albums, just as authors and writers have novels, and artists have exhibits…we as a film/video production company also have our grand project…

The feature length film.

In 2006, Wes, Ted, and myself made our first full length movie, 100min, a feature.  It was called “A Moment with You” and it was hardest project we ever did. It was made during our final year in college before we graduated.  It’s been 2 years since then, but 2 years full of activity, growth, and learning for us as individuals and as a company. Yes, we’ve kept ourselves incredibly busy in other areas previously mentioned…but we have not forgotten about one of our main goals…to make movies.

This entry is the beginning of a series of entries that will take you into a very real side of Wong Fu.  I talked it over with the guys, and we feel that it is necessary to let our fans and supporters know that, yes, we are working on the creation of our next movie.  In fact, we have been working towards it for almost a year now. (yeah, we’ve been keeping secrets, hehe)

So this is just an introduction.  Not much info right now, but every so often I’ll return to this topic.  First to catch you up on what’s happened so far, and then to keep you up to date with how things are progressing. And just a disclaimer…making a feature film is a BIG, RISKY project to take on.  Therefore, it is a slow, long, tedious, uncertain, and tiresome journey. We’ll see what happens.

(sorry, this was way heavier than Ted’s previous post, haha)

  21. I am so happy to hear that you guys are still making movies :) I cannot wait till you finish! Does that mean another tour around the US? :P

  22. I wouldn’t know how much work it’ll involve, but I’d imagine it being like polishing a diamond as a caveman. Frustrating, stressful, and sometimes so hopeless you’d think “Why am I polishing a rock?!” and go ‘Ugga Ugga’ and throw it against your cave wall, as cavemen do. But then one day it’ll catch that glimpse of light and simply be – Beautiful.

    Poor analogy…

But keep polishing, and regardless we’re all with you the whole way!

  23. Best of luck!! :)

  24. oh…i actually thought u’ll give some tidbit about the movie
