The Road to Wong Fu’s Next Movie: AN INTRODUCTION
Our very first movie was “A Moment With You“. We made it during our last year of college in 2006. I won’t talk much about it since you can read everything you want about it here. Bottom line, it was a huge learning experience, really tested us, and we’ve grown a lot since then. I’m proud of what we created then. Fast forward a year after its completion.

Our last official public screening of the movie was on June 9th, 2007 at a theater in Little Tokyo, LA. After traveling the continent and screening at over 30 schools over 7 months, the book was closed on “AMY”. We spent 8 months making a movie, spent a year sharing and promoting it on our own, but finally, it was over…and we were faced with the question we kept putting off during those 7 months of touring…”now what?”
Wong Fu Productions was still relatively new in the sense that, we had only been out of school for a year, and we were still trying to figure out if and how we were going to make Wong Fu our “jobs” in the real world, and not just something fun we do on the side while we’re still have the security of being in school.
Obviously, we decided to go with this fulltime (since we’re still here and working our butts off), but for the few months towards the end of our touring, making a new movie was not on the top of our list. There was a lot of other things to handle and build within Wong Fu Productions and that definitely took its toll on us, stressing us out and burdening us. (Chasing “dreams” is not as glamorous as it sounds unfortunately, haha)
Wong Fu is a risk, but personally, it was one I was willing to take at the time, and I told myself, if I’m going to do this, then yes…I want to make one more movie before I decide to “give up”. That whole idea of, “going out w/ a bang.” I told myself and Wes and Ted, “one more year, June 2008, finish or at least start making one more movie by June 2008.”Â
And so the summer of 2007, amidst the launch of the Nice Guy brand and other Wong Fu business, we went to work on brainstorming for the next movie…

i’m really glad that you guys decided to continue on and i hope wong fu becomes everything you hoped it to be, but still, i can’t help but think that you’re still considering to give up in the future. the fact that you mentioned giving up probably means that it’s been a possibility to you and you’ve given it a great deal of thought perhaps because the idea wong fu doesn’t seem so practical anymore? idk what exactly it is, but all i know is, you guys have made a huge difference and impacted the asian-american community greatly (if not other communities as well) so hopefully you guys will move on to bigger and better things =)
here’s a good quote: “whenever you feel like giving up, think about why you tried so hard in the first place”.

Wait, ‘out with a bang’ and ‘give up’? This your second (and last) movie?
I’m assuming that’s what it refers to, not giving up on your business? Am I misreading this?
