Well you’ve been hearing me talk about it here for the last 4 months, and now the date is set. On January 31st we’re releasing our newest short “Up In Da Club” on wongfuproductions.com We released the full trailer yesterday and thankfully ppl seem excited for it. I’m excited to finally get it out, but also nervous. I feel like with the two trailers we’ve put out so far, ppl are having pretty high expectations for it, and I’m always afraid of not matching up. <biting nails> we’ll see. Not much I can do about it now anyways.
You’ll notice the cast has some familiar faces. Tom Ngo, from “BreakUp Backup” and “People, Places, and Things” is back playing a role that is most similar to who he really is, haha. I’m in there too, yes…playing a role that is most definitely NOT like who I really am.
Two new comers. The main character is played by our friend Chris. He’s a great actor in various genres, but we’ve got him doing comedy here. Check out this other short he did for a film festival contest. It’s really good, really…I wish we made it.
And how can you not notice our “cute accountant” played by Tom’s friend, and now also our friend, Stephanie. She was a lot of fun to work with and, I think you will agree, fits her character description quite well no? =P
Oh, and the title. I remember reading a few comments (yeah, I get bored wanna research our feedback) and seeing that some ppl didn’t like the title. I have a feeling it’s largely because of the “da” making it sound lame…or maybe I’m paranoid. Anyway, I purposely titled it that way because in the same way our character is trying too hard to fit in and be something he’s not…I wanted the title to also have that that awkward feeling to it when you say it. (who says “da”? except for when you’re trying to say “big” or “hit” in chinese). I don’t think anyone is gonna get that, so that’s just for our readers here.
What’s funny is that last night, I actually was at a club for a special occasion. Celebrating the birthdays of a few of the FM guys, and it just reaffirmed all the awkwardness and jokes that I feel in those places which inspired this short. btw…the music you heard in the trailer is by FM (Far*East Movement). Pretty sick huh?
Well, I hope you are all looking forward to it. Please do us a big favor and spread the trailer around to your friends, post a link on facebook or myspace…see if you can get any of your friends interested. Or wait til we actually release it to screen it first to make sure you’re not sending your buddies trash. haha. January 31st. We’re releasing the first couple parts on our website first, and then putting it on YouTube after that…so if you wanna be ahead of the game…check out our site first!

FINALLY got to watch this.
Absolutely cracked up at the jiggy comment. That was total class. Made me remember when the song first came out. Big Willie Style!
Much cooler than the teaser IMO, definitely looking forward to it now.

Aw.. bedridden…? You mean you’re sick? That sucks… I’m sick also, but school started and I can’t miss any class or else my teachers are gonna drop me. I’m in my class atm actually. I did want to get in trouble in class so I couldn’t watch the video. But I will later. Looks cool. I’ll watch both when I get my laptop. XD. Can’t wait. But I actually liked the name. It fit with the theme of the video. But good job guys, keep it up. I love what I see.

I love the actor! I saw Chris in a music video a little while ago. It’s really cute, you guys should check it out if you haven’t seen it. It’s also shot in a sort of stop motion animation.

When I heard that the title was “Up in DA Club” I couldn’t help but laugh so I’m expecting this short to be funny. From the trailers I think it is!
And I can relate to the guy’s anxiety to his first time clubbing! [Haha. My first time was YESTERDAY!]

i can’t wait! i’ve been waiting to see the whole thing ever since i saw the wip at nyu. this trailer is making me all the more eager :p
i feel like this short’s kind of giving viewers another angle of wong fu productions, which should be really interesting to see. it’s gonna be great.

Haha Phil it’s WFP we’re talking about – of course we all have high expectations! But don’t worry, I’m sure you pulled this one off too. And most of us here like any shorts you guys do!
The two trailers seemed to carry slightly different portayals of what to expect in the series but either way they both make it look good.
Oh and no offence, but that other guys short was pretty funny too!!

don’t worry phil people will like it no matter what. u won’t let us done we all really enjoy ur videos so u have nothing to wry about just uploading the videos on time for us to see. other than that i don’t u’ll get any complaints about the new videos. i hope u get better soon.

The title is fine the way it is. It suits the short. I already saw the first half of it at the NYU event and I can’t wait till the 31st to see the rest of it. It stopped just when it was getting more hilarious. Can’t wait till the big day.
Chris did a real good job in the “You Got Male” film. The speechless character he plays is headstrong and he really acted it out well.

Im fine with the title, I think it suits its very well, I can’t wait to see the whole thing, Im sure it will make me laugh enough to make me pee my pants lol (ill try not to though)
Much props too the actors, you guys always seem to find the right person for the right character. 2 thumbs up!
