Chinese people sure love their Chinese newspaper. I remember when I was a kid, being at family functions, and my grandparents would read those things from front to back. If my mom or dad were bored somewhere, but had a newspaper….they were set for hours. We had an interview with one today.
Thanks to two of our wonderful helpers, Mary and Vincent, we might be having an article about us in the Chinese World Journal sometime soon, should the story get approved by the editors. For those that don’t know, the Chinese World Journal is the largest Chinese newspaper distributed in North America. If you see a chinese person reading a paper, it’s probably this one. What interest they’d have in us is beyond me. haha, jk. sorta. not really. yeah we’re cool.
We met with a reporter today in Arcadia and she interviewed us for about 1/2 hr or so. Though she was proficient in English, most of the interview was in Chinese, so I was doing my best to answer questions using my Chinglish. (how the hell do you say “a new industry based on new media content” or “web based production company” in Chinese?? lol) Thankfully the Mandarin sufficed, and whatever couldn’t be said coherently was said in English (phew)
We’ll let you know if you should tell your mom or dad to go buy a paper sometime.
This all reminded me of an awesome website I was introduced to a few months ago. “Sleeping Chinese” It’s a site that collects pictures ppl take of Chinese ppl, in China, sleeping. Chinese ppl, or maybe asians in general…man, they can sleep. Anywhere dude, it doesn’t matter if it’s on broken glass. If they’re tired, they’ll make it work. After looking at some of these photos…man, we hardcore.
I really wanna know how this guy decided to fall asleep here. What lead up to this?
There’s something really special about this one that made me lol. Why is there a chair in the middle of the dirt and rubble??
In America, ppl would think this guy is homeless. Over there…dude, that’s just Grandpa taking a nap, leave him alone!
I think I’ve tried this before…I was not tough enough to make it work.
How many of you had those stools in your house? or still have them?
I have nothing to say about this one. It’s just… yeah.
“Hey what do you wanna do today?” “Iono, let’s go to the park” “Okay, and do what?” “Iono, sleep across from each other on a seesaw” “Okay, that sounds fun”
I like how the photos show people young and old, of all social classes and occupations. Sleep is the great equalizer, and we know how to turn any spot into a bed.
There’s A LOT more really great pictures on the website. I couldn’t put them all here, but definitely check them out. Some are super hilarious and some are like, “how the helll???”
Goodnight.

OMG HAHA Those pictures are hilarious! I wish I could be able to sleep anywhere like them. that would get me through boring lectures. I’ll tell my mom to save that day’s paper for me to look at when I get home.
