S’me again. So this is our 2nd time to Univ. Michigan. The first time was 2.5 yrs ago. We got into Ann Arbor last night. Flying from LA to Chicago to Detroit, it was a full day of traveling that we have become pretty used to over the last couple years. Here’s the view from my window seat of Chicago. Anyone can guess which airline we flew?
As always we battle for the armrest. Personally I guess the middle seat should get both since the aisle seat gets a little extra legroom and the window seat gets the wall to lean against and…the window. Wes took middle for the 1 hr flight from Chicago to Detroit (I let him have the armrest) Ted had to sit 4 hours in the middle on the flight from LA.
Today was just Day 1 of the MAASU Conference (Midwest Asian American Student Union). Groups of students from all over the midwest were checking in and you know we had the NG table out. Oo, what’s the black one on the left?
Tonight was basically the “opening ceremony” of the conference. Just a couple degrees less than say, the Beijing Olympics, but still a lot of fun. They had a couple hip hop dance teams and this guy above who was a MOSTER with the yo-yo. I’m upset that his name escapes me right now, I think it’s because when he was performing, I was just too caught up in excitement and enchantment. He’s from Indiana I think and has won various awards and was on America’s Got Talent. I know I’m talking a lot about this guy, but seriously, the 3 of us and the whole room was amazed (plus he was wearing gold shoes). I’ve never seen anyone move a piece of plastic on the end of a string like this fellow. If someone knows his name, please tell me. tell me t-t-t-t-t-tell me. (sorry I had to)
There were about 400 people packed into the lecture hall. Over 20 schools from Wisconsin, Kansas, Oklahoma, Ohio, everywhere. There was so much energy and so much enthusiasm. It was really cool to see all these students coming together.
It was finally our turn to present (yo-yo guy was definitely tough act to follow), but we did our thang. We talked about who we were (most ppl have heard of us, but weren’t as cool as you who read our blog on a regular basis and keep up), so we had to win them over with our awkwardness and stuttering eloquent speech and charm. We showed some new videos that haven’t been released yet, spoke about empowering AAs and the importance of unity and supporting one another. 1.5 hours later (yeah, can you imagine having to listen to us talk for 1.5 hrs? heh) the event ends (heck yeah, we were “headliners” haha) and once again, it’s just us three, sitting by ourselves…checking our twitters. haha.
Well, tomorrow is where the real work comes in. We’re leading two workshops. Sometimes I feel super under-qualified to do these sorts of things, but hey…maybe we do have something interesting to say.
Oh yeah, I left my camera bag in the car back in LA, so that’s why all these photos are from the phone. No video either =( Hope these grainy pics suffice.
*330am right now. How bout leaving a comment for staying up late to fill you in! =D
