Well, we’ve been talking about it for so long, shot it in Feb, previewed it at ISA in March, showed it on tour this past April, premiered it last saturday…and finally…it’s online for EVERYONE to watch and enjoy . Hopefully dragging out the release hasn’t hyped it up too much. Anyways, yes, here is David Choi’s FIRST official music video! It was such an honor for us, and it’s been so great getting to know David and his friends since we started working on the project. That’s one thing I love about this “job”, getting to meet other talented and cool “nice guys” (and girls)
Ready for some amazing behind-the-scenes-making-off-secret-stories??

050509david3Fun Facts:
-Everyone “casted” in the video is one of David’s friends. Peter (bball friend), Dan (new bf), and Sam (bar friend) in particular are old childhood buddies who often make cameos in David’s video blogs.
050509david4-Lana McKissack is an INCREDIBLE singer. You gotta hear her. She’s definitely quite the performer and has done many theater shows.
-Lana can cry on cue!! We didn’t know at first, and on the first take she started crying and we were so shocked we didn’t know what to do, but we kept rolling. Once we found out she possessed this power, we took advantage. “Ok Lana, one tear. Ok release the next one! Ok, suck it back in!”
050509david2-Tanya Chisholm had a major supporting role in High School Musical 2!
-Anna Schnaitter is a professional dancer… and hilarious. She was too tall for some shots, so we had to ask her to widen her stance so she’d be shorter.
050509david5-Chester See is a host on the Disney Channel for “Disney 365″ segments. He’s also starting a musical career. Check out his channel
-The bar scene was originally going to be shot at a place near Nucleus Gallery, but when we went, they were closed (guess there was some miscommunication. Majorly) Freaked out for a sec, then Lana called her friend who manages a restaurant and made arrangements. We drove out there and it ended up looking better than we originally had planned. See! there’s always solutions to problems, and they often work out for the best.
-The bench scene was shot in downtown Fullerton, CA. The basketball scene was shot near Alhambra High School. The salon is where David actually gets his haircut.
-The budget for this video was just a few hundred $s. It was shot in 2 days.
-The entire shooting crew was just wes, ted, and phil.
050509david6050509david7050509david8-You should definitely get David’s album.

Directors’ concept:
For those that didn’t get it totally, here’s the full concept behind the video.
David and Lana are both sitting in this white room. We also show them going on with the rest of their lives (hanging out w/ friends, shopping, meeting new people) but they are still always in this room together. The idea is that, no matter where we go and how we move on in life, we’re still always somehow connected to that special someone we were with, in a frozen place and time. In this video, that place is the white room; and here in this place, David explains (sings) to Lana that if he were to see her again, he wouldn’t try to talk to her.

Towards the end of the video, we see them switch positions as well (David was on the right, at the end he’s on the left). We also show each of them revisiting each other’s locations. (Lana went to the bball court, David went to the salon, etc). This could imply that maybe they did try to find each other again, but missed. Now in this suspended white room, he gives up, and she watches him go.

  3. Wow, it only took you guys 2 days to shoot? You guys did an excellent job. Great video, I almost cried. I feel like a ‘tard. haha

  4. i really liked the idea that we’re connected to that special someone in a frozen place and time. you put it in a much better way than how i saw it- a piece of me left behind. it felt like i had to say goodbye forever… but now i guess, it feels like it’s ok to say “see you later”.

thank you, i really enjoyed the video. :)

  5. Amazing…

I would like to know more about the Wong Fu Production.
I’m consider on making my own production, But it’s time that’s not with me. I would like to know how you all manage your time. Or some helpful hints.

  6. that was just WOW!
You guys rock.. so does David Choi!
    Yay for you guys. :D

  7. awesome job, guys!

and is that a canon xh-a1 you’re shooting with? what is that cool-looking lens attached to it?

  8. DAVID SMILES!! Awww..that was so adorable!!

  9. OMGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love it!! it’s so cool!

  10. That’s a good song! And the girl is pretty pretty~ And those basketball shirts are “nice” ;)

  11. noticed one thing. black, white, and asian are all captured in this video. so wonderful! :)

  12. i thought this music video was awesome
especially the switching of camera angles towards the end of the song for each beat haha
    great job wong fu!

  13. just watched the video on YT. great job guys! and thanks for sharing the trivia and directors’ concept. good stuff across the board. (c:

  14. I have to agree with everyone else when they say how awesome this video was. It was beautifully done and quite emotional. Job well done yo. =D

  15. First off I’d like to say great video. simple concept, shots , ideas… but well complex song and way to handle the video.

When I saw the shot where she cried… I was like… how did Wongfu do that? but that’s amazing she can just do that on cue… and what an amazing singer she is.

Also I was confused when I first sat the video at ISA, but this explains it all perfectly and it makes so much sense and it was so simple too! Personally, I like these behind the scene facts… more on the other vids please!? ONE video I would love a behind the scene going into is Yellow Fever, I know it’s an oldie… but still a goodie right?

  16. i really liked the video and thanks for the explanation it makes a lot more sense. At first I thought that Dan was David with glass and stuff in his hair. The camera was only on Dan for a few seconds so I couldn’t tell.

  17. hooray!! absolutely love it :] and i love how david’s friends are connected to disney! i’ve totally seen chester on disney 365! and i remember tanya from hsm 2… crazyyy.

    great job guys =]

  18. great job guys! love the lightings.

you should give Lana more crying shots. ;)

although i felt a little disconnection- them trying to find each other, maybe it’s just me.. haha. but the simplicity of the concept and the richness in color really stood out.

i just wished Lana was in a more elaborated outfit at the dressing room. haha, like taylor swift love story. haha.

i love it i love it! :) two thumbs up and a smiley face ^^!

  19. Daaaaayum nice! Awesome work guys.

Liked the Nice Guy shirts in the video too.
