A couple months ago I played this game at a friends house. It’s called Pop 5. From the makers of Cranium. It’s got a lot of the same themes, but the way in which it’s played is different, there’s “wagering” and I think it’s more interactive and faster paced than normal Cranium. Anyway, I liked it so much, that I bought it myself so that I could share it with my own buddies. This is the first time I’ve bought a board game (well, technically there’s no board) in like…ever. (board games were always gifts, who buys one for yourself?? haha). Anyway, I’m having a Pop 5 “partay” tomorrow. I hope my friends don’t think it’s lame.
My other favorite board games are (in no particular order)…
Taboo (I think my record was 7 cards), Monopoly (haven’t played a full game in a looong time, takes too long, but super fun when you get to the end and ppl are afraid to roll the dice in fear of landing on properties), Life (it’s fun to pretend, unless you end up with a sucky life), Scrabble (tho my vocab sux), Sorry (Not a popular one, but definitely one of the most intense games out there. I’ve seen friendships end from this game, haha. jk), and Connect 4 (I suck at this game, but it’s still fun)
What are you favorite board games?

Man, looking at these replies makes me want to play some games!
Apples to Apples is always fun with a group of friends!
And QUELF! omg, that is a game that i think everyone must play at least once! its one of the most random games ive ever played! so random that you better play with people you are VERY comfortable around! No joke! hah! Not very easy to find either. I think they sell it at barnes and nobles.

This isn’t really a board game, but BOP IT is just amazing. And also another not-really-board-game…Perfection. That clunky red and blue rectangle where you had to fit in all the yellow shapes in their respective shape holes in under a minute.
Stressed me out more than an AP test.

My favorite board games have got to be Life, Taboo, Scrabble, Sorry, Connect 4, and Monopoly as well…
I tried to think of other ones, but you seem to have listed all the ones I’ve played. haha
Do card games count? I can play a mean game of cards. Any game. I’m on it

i like monopoly too but i always lose
May 12, 2009 at 3:23 pm
I buy board games! Like scrabble, Candyland (hell yea, get ya hands off my gumdrops!), and cranium.
Connect 4 is really fun and easy on the iphone, good for killing time while you’re waiting in an imax movie line for Star Trek!
Loove Taboo, it’s awesome when you have a mental connection with someone and can guess “linoleum” after someone says “floor.”
Monopoly gets crazy fun when people start cheating, really, seriously, try it ;o)
May 12, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Board games? Only thing I can remember is Monopoly and Settlers of Catan, really. Settlers was really fun and strategic. Then there’s card games, Management Material was always really fun.

I’m an undefeated champion in The Bored Game.
May 12, 2009 at 9:53 am
You listed a lot of favorite games from my childhood!!!
I loved Connect 4, if you overthink it you miss the obvious, if you underthink you get tricked. I loved Sorry too, the most sarcastic apologies I’ve ever heard in my life come from this game.
Now that I’m older, I play the more “mature” games: Cranium, Scrabble and Taboo. But my all-time favorite board game is Weiqi/Go/Baduk.

May 12, 2009 at 8:34 am
I like Cranium, I played sooo many times over winter break I think its time for a booster pack for new cards lol, and I got it on Black Friday lol
I like monopoly too, even though its a long game I like to pretend I have all that money and having ppl land in my property. Im usually pretty lucky and avoid them but at the end I end up losing anyways lol
Apples to Apples can be fun depending on who you play with.
Battle of the Sexes is funny. always a war in this one.
Scattergories is popular within my group of friends. Theres always those few people that ALWAYS win lol I just get happy im not last lol
May 12, 2009 at 8:14 am
Quelf is ridiculously fun :B
May 12, 2009 at 4:51 am
Omg, new game from the makers of Cranium?! I gotta get my hands on that one. =)
My favourite board games are Cranium, Taboo, Articulate (similar to Taboo but not as challenging), Monopoly and Pictionary. Pictionary is such a hilarious classic…I can’t believe it’s not on your list!
Pop 5 party sounds fun. For me, board games night beats clubbing any day. =)
May 12, 2009 at 4:47 am
My favorite board game was Guess Who? I had so much fun flipping those cards on the board. I wouldn’t even have to play with someone. Just flipping the cards on the board was fun for me. Awwwwwww…the childhood memories…
May 12, 2009 at 4:37 am
My favourite ‘board’ game is “Apples to Apples”.
May 12, 2009 at 3:37 am
I’d have to say I love Connect 4. But one of my all time favorites would have to be Clue and Nintendo Monopoly. I like playing with a themed board. Oh I did also enjoy playing Life.
Life discouraged me a bit when I got the sucky house, job, with so many kids. and little money. But then somehow make it big and my worries are all over.
Clue was a classic. Having to blame a death on someone who may not be the killer. and going into different rooms trying to solve the crime. Yet hiding your answers from everyone else. Suspense!
Connect 4 is just so great and easy to understand that anyone can play.
