Why do we look so upset? I’ll get to that later. For now, we’ve actually been back from tour for a solid week. I’ve been wanting to write this entry for awhile, but haven’t had the time since we’ve been shooting since we got back. Now that I’m at home and have some down time… here goes. Our Autumn 2009 Tour in Numbers and factoids…
Official US stops: 11
International stops: 1 (Niagara Falls Canada side)
Miles driven: 575
Cars rented: 2
Miles flown: 25,000+
States visited (including airports): ~13 (Can’t recall all stops)
Cross country flights: 8
Total flights (each of us including transfers): 20 TWENTY. That’s 60 combined!
Hotels stayed: 10
Swankiest hotel: The W in DC
Our favorite hotel: Hampton Inns
Hotels w/ free cookies in the lobby: 4 (Hotel Indigo, 2 Hamptons, 1 Comfort Suites)
Fans in total who attended the tour: ~2,610
Fans in total we met during meet&greet: ~1,550? hard to judge
Biggest audience: ~600 at Boston Univ. (BU)
Coziest audience: ~50 at Ball St.
Most diverse audience: Ball St.
Shirtless guys with Wong Fu painted on them: 6
Past organizers we met up with whom we haven’t seen in 1.5-3 years: 11
Birthdays celebrated while on tour: 2
Hours video taped: 5
Times Twilight was talked about: 5453802
That’s all I can muster up for now, and all my limited math skills allow me to compute. Needless to say it was an enormous voyage that’s incredible to look back on, but while we were doing all that traveling, was actually quite taxing and painful. The pic above for example, here’s the back story: Successful event, meet&greet 250 people, get back to hotel around 1am, handle some biz til 2ish, sleep for 2 hrs, get picked up at 4am to go to airport 1.5 hrs away, get to airport around 6am, wait for 1 hr for 8am flight to board, sit in small seat for 8 more hours. I think I forced the guys to take the picture right as we were seating. We had to do that routine several times through the trip.
BUT…everytime I wanted to complain about the travel and such, I had to remind myself, #1 it’s amazing that we have this opportunity to tour and I should feel so lucky to have supporters like you who make these events happen, #2 it’s amazing that planes even exist. Please watch the hilarious video below, it put things into perspective for me. Specifically starting at 2:30
With that so well said… on behalf of the 3 of us… Thank you for giving us the past month of painful traveling, because whenever we landed we were met with your amazing faces and smiles, making it all worth it! Can’t wait for future tours so we can see even more of you! Now, I gotta start editing those 5 hours of footage so you can actually see what happened on tour. Do you guys even wanna watch that? (say no, and you save me a lotta work, lol)

Think of it this way, that’s 2,610 people who’s day you’ve made brighter. If that’s not impressive, I don’t know what is.

November 25, 2009 at 5:24 pm
But of COURSE we want to see tour vids! Those of us who couldn’t make it out to the stops (or whose cities weren’t visited – coughVancouvercough) want to see what kind of shenanigans went down. Phil Chao’s coverage of the Niagara Falls stop was pretty hilarious already – looking forward to seeing everything else!
No rush or anything. =P
