Surprise! Wong Fu was featured on CNN again, a new clip and show this time! HLN (Headline News) is running a segment about us 3 times this week during the “Morning Express with Robin Meade” show. AMAZING! It already ran on Monday morning, it’s running again Wed morning, and if you missed all of those you can catch it on Thursday between 9-9:30a EST. Or, if you can’t wake up that early, you can just watch it in the video player above. Once again, they put together a really nice piece (props to the editor and writer), describing what we do in a very clear and concise way. (The only edit I would make is their sub headline… we aren’t “targeting” AAs really, but that’s another entry.) We actually knew months ago that we were going to be on CNN a second time, but I didn’t want to say anything in fear of jinxing it.
Back in August we had a 2 minute feature about us on CNN. While we were shooting that interview, the journalist actually told us he wanted to pitch our story to another show that runs segments about small businesses, thinking that they could take a different angle on WF for their show. Apparently WF knows something about running a business =P. It’s hard to look at ourselves that way, or as entrepreneurs, but I guess it sorta is that way. So during the interview, he sorta sprung these business questions on us, and we had to do our best to pull “Tips” out on the spot. I’m not sure how good those tips are…they’re pretty broad.
ALL credit goes to AngryAsianMan.com for really jump starting this CNN connection. It was because of him putting us on his list of “Most Influential Asian Americans under 30” that the journalist caught sight of Wong Fu which then lead to all these features. Thank you AngryAsianMan! If you haven’t heard of this site, you must check it out. I read it about every other day to catch up on AA news around the country.
Not only did AAM lead to these tv segments, he also got us mentioned in CNN’s blog as “5 rising AA stars to watch” along with our buddies Far East Movement and David Choi! Read that article here. Are we really on the same level as Brenda Song and Aaron Yoo? Those two are mainstream players! Shoutouts to them…maybe someday we’ll work with them. haha.
Anyway, it’s just an honor, period, to be on such a huge mainstream network. Thanks Robin. I’m also super glad that through our work, so many of our friends could be “featured” on CNN as well. As you’ll see, the segment opens with FM. Clips of Ryan Feng from Quest Dance Crew. Bruce Chang was interviewed and other friends Janice, Kat and Kevin are the “fans” watching us on the computer. Chris from “Up in Da Club”. Mimi and Will from “At Musing’s End”. Susan from “POSER!” (that’s us shooting it). And how awesome that it closes with Lana and David Choi and the music video we made for him! Close up on David! woohoo!! It’s a big Wong Fu party and everyone’s invited! =D
Pass on the clip, repost it, tweet it…THANK YOU!!
