mcrib-1I’m sure you already know, since this truly is big and important news… the McRib is back for a limited time at McDonald’s. Not sure if this is nationwide, or it’s just us Californians who are so blessed, but I saw a billboard a couple weeks ago…and last Thrs, come lunch time, I actually made a trip to a nearby McD’s to pick one up for myself.

First, it’s rare that I actually drive to get lunch. We work at home, so usually I just walk or bike to a near by place for food, one of my regular stops. But I actually got IN my car and DROVE…that’s how much I wanted this baby.
Now, whenever I get fastfood, if I have the choice, I will never get it “to-go”. I always want to eat my food there. One reason is, the food is already sorta low quality and greasy, I wanna eat it fresh and right away when it’s at it’s prime tastiness. Wait any longer and it starts getting gross. The other reason is… I sorta like sitting in the dining area. This might be related to the fact that when I was younger, my mom took me out to a lot of fast food. She worked fulltime and had to drive us around to all these extra curricular activities…she had no choice but to feed us BK and McDs. So when I eat at one of these places, I strangely feel a sense of peace. Weird, I know.

McRibWell, here’s what my McRib looked like. At first glance you’re thinking, “Something is strange about that McRib”. You’re absolutely correct. I added lettuce and tomato. You see, back when I was in college, my roommate Frankie introduced me to an amazing fact, that was so obvious, but I never knew was possible. You could add lettuce and tomato to any sandwich. I had never thought about customizing my order ever before until he told me his secret that he adds lettuce and tomato to his $1 double cheeseburger, or McChicken. From that point on, my world was changed. I looked at fast food menus completely differently, w/out limits. For instance, whenever I get a Filet-o-fish, I always add lettuce and tomato. And the McRib was no exception. (Part of the reason why is also because I’m trying to get more vegetables in my diet) Seriously, try this out next time. Some places will charge you 30 cents, some places for free… but for me personally, I feel like I’m eating a much healthier and higher “quality” sandwich after. (keep kidding myself, i know)

Anyway, that was my McRib experience. By the way, I find it funny how they mold the meat in the shape of a rack of ribs. It’s like, c’mon, ur not kidding anyone. We all know…but nice try.

Morals of this entry:
-Little details make big differences.
-Even if it’s obvious to everyone you failed, sometimes the effort is most important.
-McRib is still uber-sauce delicious.

  10. Who saw How I Met Your Mother your last night? They talked about the McRib multiple times!

  11. i saw that tooo, the mcrib is good, i wanna get one. xD

  12. You should make a short about this lil adventure and your secret love :D .. i think it would be very honest!!

    • Ditto!

  13. Am I the only person that read that as “M-Crib is Back”?. Lol.

Not a fan of tomato, but I never have a burger without lettuce in it. And mayo, if I can help it.

Quarter Pounder, no pickle, no onion, add mayo, add lettuce. Believe it.

  14. The McRib is great, but knowing about the lettuce and tomato thing was even better. Thanks for the knowledge Phil! I’ve had the McRib two times since it first came out, and each time I was having it right before an appointment with my professors. It’s great, but you should never eat it in your car lol. Otherwise, you’ll end up with sauce all over your wheel. Definitely enjoy your McRib inside the restaurant. Nothing beats eating at Lake Dixon here in Escondido tho. It’s a real beauty :-) .

  15. Yum!

  16. Awww I don’t think we have it here in Canada…:(

  17. -Whoa, I never knew that! My friends who work there are holding out on me lol.
It’s too bad I don’t eat fast food anymore. After reading Fast Food Nation and watching a documentary called, “Super Size Me” I just don’t anymore. Plus taking out bread (which is my favorite food in the whole world) help me lose fifty pounds in two and a half months=D I cosplayed as the original red power ranger lol @ Sugoicon

PS: I tried to eat bread the other day. It tasted foreign to me somehow. =(
