Our Spring 2010 Tour is COMPLETE!! And what a way to end it. The past week we had 4 events; the final leg of our tour; the west coast leg… the biggest shows. Started last Friday with 3 shows in a row… UC Davis on Fri, Fresno St. on Sat, and UC Berkeley on Sun. Craziness. Which psycho idiot scheduled it that way?! Oh right, my bad.

Though it was quite hectic, we managed to pull it off thanks to some great organizers and of course you the fans.

First, UC Davis. It was our third time there in the last 4 years. This time we were in the same lecture hall as our very first visit in 2007. And just like the 2 times before, a huge line had formed hours before the event.

Because of room scheduling and security guards, we knew before hand that there’d be a very limited time for meet&greet, so only 75 “vip” tix were sold that would include a meet&greet. Knowing that we’d be turning hundreds of people away at the end of the show, we didn’t want the fans to think that we were too cool to meet them and stuff, so before the show started, we went through the line to say hi and take pics with as many people as we could. As always, the show was a ton of fun and we hope Davis will always want us back.

The next day we drove down to Fresno St. This was special because it was our FIRST time visiting any school in central California. And dang, we learned right away that there is a HUGE amount of support there that seems to get over looked because all attention is given to southern and northern CA. Thankfully, we were able to experience the great people there and we were met with about 500 eager fans. Fresno St. definitely showed us what was up in central CA!

No time for rest, the next day we drove back up to the bay area for an early Sunday event at UC Berkeley. This was also our 3rd time there and UC Berkeley never disappoints. To be honest, I’m always afraid people might think that when we return to schools a year later, they may be sick of us thinking “what? they were just here last yr!” But so far, each time we come back…the crowds are just as big if not bigger. We’re so lucky.

The next day, we had the “day off” but really, it was travel time. Flew up to Seattle for the LAST Wong Fu Event of the tour at Univ. Washington! Coming in, we knew that the Facebook event page had over 700 people confirmed…we were in disbelief. If that many people really did show up, it would set a record for us. On Tuesday, the doors opened, and the ginormous lecture hall was almost filled bringing it just under 700, easily setting a record for the most people to attend a singular Wong Fu show by ourselves. WOW. We were taken aback, and with that kind of enthusiasm from the crowd, of course we had a great show.

The meet and greet afterwards was intense. It was photos only, and there was a main cameraman who took all the photos. Everyone in line just came through, took a photo, shook hands, and that was it. We were like Santa Claus, minus the red suit, beard, and a few pounds. It was very efficient. We told people to stick around til the end if they wanted autographs, so at the very end of the night, the 3 of us went into the crowd and started signing away.

People were so nice and thoughtful. Thanks to Michael Huynh for the UW photos! Click the LINK to see all his pics from the event!

For the first time in 2 weeks, I’m back in my room, typing this up at 3am. Weird to think that last night, I was on stage with Wes and Ted speaking to hundreds of people in Washington. Reflecting on the entire past month, 14 schools, across the country, getting the opportunity to meet and share our story and work with thousands of people… it’s very humbling and strangely, confusing. I’ll save that for another post. For now, Thanks for making this past week unbelievable. We made it. No, you made it.

  18. Thanks for coming out to UW! Looking forward to your next visit! :D

And don’t stress out about the pressure type thing– as long as you do what you think is right, things should work out. As long as you have at least one fan, that signature will be worth something :) (though one fan don’t pay the bills, now don’t it? haha)
