By now hopefully you’ve all seen our music video for International pop star Wang Leehom. We were incredibly honored and proud to work on and, most importantly, complete that project with him. But I think one of the coolest things about the project was the relation to Wong Fu and how it was a full circle with Leehom.
You see, Wong Fu Productions has its humble roots at UC San Diego, years ago when the guys were still in college. Not many people know this, but before YouTube was around, the guys were making videos on their college campus. They were extremely amateur and often just silly. Perfect examples are the lip syncs that Phil made with his friends.
The second lip sync video he ever made, and technically the second video to ever go on this Wong Fu website, was to a Chinese song called “Qing Fei De Yi” by singer Harlem Yu. Check out the video below, and don’t judge!! haha. We were much younger and just having fun. (It’s posted on some random person’s account)
Ok, now that you’ve viewed that ancient Wong Fu artifact, hopefully you can see how far we’ve come haha. But did you watch the credits? The song we used for the credits was a Wang Leehom song! One of his very early songs when he was just starting out.
Fast forward a number of years, and we’re meeting him and giving him directions. From our 2nd video ever, to actually working with him, I’ll say that’s pretty cool. =) Life’s a trip sometimes. Just a little tidbit for you to know.
