Most of the time, a REAL wongfuweekend is less fun and games, and more stress and work…
First, Saturday was a huge shoot for Ep 5 of “Away We Happened”. These weekly shoots are starting to take a toll on us. But having a great crew and being prepared because of them has helped this along tremendously. We shut down a portion of a nearby shopping center to shoot some of the scenes

We normally don’t have this much crew and equipment, but when we do, it does make things a lot easier and look amazing!

Crowd forming to see what’s going on!

Yellow Tape. You know we’re legit when we have…yellow tape! haha

The most still part of crazy day… taking ambient room tone. “Everyone quiet for 1 minute!”
But Saturday was just the beginning of the adventures of this weekend. On Sunday, we headed down to San Diego (about 80 miles away) to attend University of California, San Diego (UCSD’s) graduation! For those who don’t know, we graduated from UCSD “a few” years ago ourselves, and Wes was part of “Sixth College”. He had the huge honor of being invited back to speak as their commencement speaker, to over 3000 people, graduates and their families. A truly memorable moment. Wes will chime in on his own in a later blog with his personal thoughts of the speech and ceremony.

Check out Wes at the podium and on the jumbo screen!
But no time to rest. Since Sunday is usually our day to edit what we shot the previous day, we lost it since we were in San Diego watching Wes. But a deadline is a deadline, and we had to deliver an edit by Monday. What’s that mean? Late night editing!!! yaaaayyyy…noooOOO! haha. Phil didn’t get back to LA til about midnight, and he went straight to the office. Dressed in his PJs and with his toothbrush, he edited til 5a before handing it off to Wes to take over in the morning.

Phil at around 4:30a looking very happy to be editing. Teamwork ftw.
We made it through a truly huge weekend. Sometimes it surprises even us how we juggle everything…
