A couple weeks ago we released the finale episode of our series “Away We Happened”. It came out right at the end of June, and was a perfect ending to a great first half of 2012.

Looking back on the past 6 months, from the vantage point of overcoming the very challenging AWH project, felt really good. In a relatively short period of time we were able to complete a variety of projects we had set out to do.

First of all, one big focus for us this year was to explore web series. We wanted to see how we could handle producing multiple episode serials and also see how you, the viewers, would react as well. In the first 6 months of 2012 we released not just one, or two, but three different series! In February we presented “Home is Where the Hans Are”, our first project with Fremantle Media and essentially a TV pilot. It was a great learning experience and beginning of a good relationship with them, and also a fun cast and story to work with. It was our first family comedy as well!

At the end of March we introduced “Company Car” which was an idea that we’ve always wanted to make, and thankfully Subaru joined us to support it. We’ve always had the idea of doing a series about WF interns, and when Manny, our friend and actor who we’ve used in various shorts before, said he’d be down, we knew that this series would be a blast to create. Manny is really one of the funniest actors we’ve ever worked with. Add in a ton of cameos and some great writing, this was a series we’re especially proud of.

Finally there was “Away We Happened”. We started shooting in April, and the first episode was released in May, all the way through June with 6 total episodes. This series was a different kind of challenge since we had to write, shoot, and edit each week based on fan responses. But the best thing about this series was seeing the amazing feedback. Each episode left the audience wanting more, and we knew that drama was something you guys all really enjoyed. In the past we’ve teased the idea that WF should make an “Asian style drama/KDrama”, and this was essentially our version of it, but in English, haha. We’re so happy it was well received, so maybe, you’ll be seeing more of that genre from us!

In addition to completing these web series, other parts of Wong Fu Production had big accomplishments as well. Most notably, our first international tour took place in Feb and March! For the first time, we were brought out to Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and 3 cities in Australia. This was by far our biggest tours to date, and being overseas, the most difficult, but we had great help and event coordinators. Looking back on the tour, we can’t believe we were able to complete it, while staying on top of our production work.

ISAtv officially launched with brand new original shows! Each of us were assigned to create our own show and they’ve been a blast to make. With the help of ISA we got this new outlet to share our special interests with the fans.

Phil’s “Step By Step” a dance show where each episode he learns a routine from a famous choreographer

Ep 1 above. Ep2. Ep3.

Wes’ “The Makeshift” a craft show where each episode Wes teaches you a fun creative craft to try at home.

Ep 1 above. Ep2. Ep3.

Ted’s “Rage Quit with Ted” a video game show where he plays and reviews his favorite games!

Ep 1 above. Ep2.

And in between all that we were still producing our own new shorts like the ones below

Add another season of WFWeekends, plus a Spring college tour to some new universities, making new products to our store, it’s been a PACKED 6 months that really pushed us to work extremely hard. If the first half brought about so much awesomeness, we can’t wait to show you, and see for ourselves, what’s to come in the 2nd half. Stay tuned!

I love it when you guys do series. It is nice when you get to see more of the plot and characters than just one short.
