We’re back from one of the most EPIC weekends in WF history. Flying out to New York for our first ISA concert outside of CA, selling out to over 1200, Far East Movement performing their next major single Rocketeer off their upcoming album “Free Wired”, but the moment that will go down in everyone’s memory forever is when Ted came out after our set by himself, then brought out his girlfriend, and got down on one knee. More nervous than I’ve ever seen him before, it was a beautiful moment that literally brought many of us to tears.

Ted, usually the quiet, “behind the scenes” one, sharing one of the most life-changing occasions of his life with 1200 people…it was astounding, and the crowd felt the same with deafening screams of excitement and joy.

Ted, you’ve been our brother to us for the last 5 years, and I’m so happy for you and Caty. You’re relationship and act of love is truly inspiring to me, and I’m sure to many of our fans and supporters. We can’t wait to see what wonderful changes this brings to your life and indirectly to Wong Fu. haha. WONG FU WEDDING!

In this episode of WFW, Wes, Phil and Ted picks a very impractical way to choose the coveted title of being the Fun Committee Commissioner.

Lan will be performing at New York. I love her style, lyrics, and attitude. You can tell she’s just having fun and wanting to share that fun with us.

Sam will be opening up in Los Angeles. Such a great song with a message, nice flow…and my personal favorite part of the video was in the beginning when he freaks out waking up….”eughhooHOLYCRAP!” haha

I heard round the bend that Alex was the runner up, and man…he really deserved it as well. This song is so great, really uplifting and catchy. I wish we had 3 concerts so that they could’ve all won!

(side note: I was really impressed with how many original songs were submitted this year compared to last. Very cool!)

Something has to be said about the over 50 submissions we had to the contest. Every year we get to see a slice of the immensely talented audience that we have watching and following Wong Fu. It’s truly inspirational to US to see who’s on the other side of this computer. The talent, the good hearts and messages, the “nice guys and girls”. Each video submitted was special to us. It remind us why we started; because we loved to be creative and we wanted to share it with others. Thank you for participating in the contest, it motivates us and keeps us driven and grounded. There are so many awesome people in this world and this contest showed us just a sample of what we are all capable of!

We strongly believe that one of the main goals here at Wong Fu Productions (aka Wes, Phil and Ted) is to help out our community.  We don’t do this just with our monetary donations from our store, we try to do this everyday using our exposure to tell people about what’s going on in the world and what we can all do to help.  One of the main driving force that pushes us to succeed is that we are part of something much larger than us, we are part of the movement for change whether our efforts be indirect or direct.  We are here and we will continue to work as hard as we can to make as much positive difference as possible.

I often find myself working long hours just to fulfill the administrative tasks to keep WFP going, the same is true for Wes and Phil whether it be designing a new product or producing the next short film.  Even with our full schedule we will always try to find time to help others because it’s not all about us and our success.

With my long winded introduction out of the way I received a heartfelt email, I’ve attached the email below:

“Dear Ted,

I just went through the worst broke up in my life. Watching the videos you guys made has been the only thing that gets me through the day. I feel really powerless that I couldn’t save this relationship. I know we still love each other very much, but the reason why is because her mom will never let her be with me since I am a undocumented alien, or in other words, illegal immigrant. This made me realize that I should take a chance and do something about it.

I know this is too much to ask or maybe you guys would careless about my petty problems, but I just want to at least try, that by supporting the “Dream ACT”, me and millions of undocumented students can have a chance to get a green card here in the United States. I know this probably won’t generate any business revenue for you guys, but at least there will be more undocumented students across the country who will look up look into your youtube channel.

Like you guys, I live in Alhambra, I’ve seen you guys a couple of times at Cha for Tea. I know you guys are probably very busy with other stuff, but this is my idea, I really hope you can let people out there know about the dream act, support the dream act, sign a petition for dream act @ http://dreamact.com/
I’m know I’m asking for too much, but please spend a few minutes to get to know about the dream act. Because undocumented students like me deserves a chance, since we can’t drive or work legally, and can’t even get financial aid for school.

P.S. whether you guys can help or not, please give me a reply, it would mean the world to me to know that you guys at least put in the time to read this.”

Things that are worth fighting for are almost never won overnight or by one person, often times we can only listen and pass on the knowledge that we’ve learned.  It’s the least we could do.

I find it incredibly astonding that the kids growing up these days (maybe even some of you!) will never know the feeling of answering the phone and NOT knowing who is calling. Every phone has caller ID now so that mystery and suspense is totally gone. I remember being a teenager kid, and when the phone rang, totally anticipating who might be on the other line. The girl I liked finally calling me back?? No, mom telling me to start cooking the rice so it’s ready when she gets home. To all you youngsters…you know that feeling when your cell rings and it’s a number that you haven’t saved and ur freaking out because you don’t know who it is, or it’s blocked? Yeah, imagine having the feeling EVERYTIME you answered the phone!! When callerID first came out as a paid service, it blew my mind. “I can KNOW who’s calling BEFORE I answer?!” HWAHT??

Furthermore, since everyone saves phone numbers to their cell phone, we’re fostering a new generation of people who no longer memorize phone numbers, or never even have! Think about it, your best friend… do you even know their phone number? Nope, you just hit “BFF” on your contacts list. Your boyfriend? Doubt it. If you were stranded w/out your cell in the middle of nowhere, but had a phone…what would you do? What would you do??? I used to know my entire circle of friends’ home phone numbers…kids these days are soft.

This was a totally random blog post, but I felt bad because it feels like we rarely blog anymore about random stuff. Do you guys even mind? When we first started this blog in 2008, we updated daily, lol. Anyway, sorry if this sounded like a grumpy old man.
