We’ve been in Malaysia for 3 days now, and we have SO much to cover and catch up on. It’s been a whirlwind of press conferences, interviews, and today’s epic event. So much to say, but until we have more time to gather everything, we just wanted to share this great video of our radio interview from last night. What are two guys who don’t sing or rap, from a group that doesn’t do anything musical, doing on a radio station?? haha. We were just as confused as you are, but it’s still an honor to have been on the show. A lot of fun, and this video is just so well put together! Can’t believe this was going out to millions across the country. Some old taxi driver out there now knows who we are! lol Enjoy!

*As you can see Ted is not there with us, sadly. He really wanted to come with us, and we wanted him there too, but unfortunately some personal issues came up last minute that prevented him from traveling with us.*

Off to New York!

We’re really excited to be heading back out to New York City this weekend. Shooting a brand new music video, but more importantly, a video for our good friends Magnetic North. They were the first real musicians we made an official video for (before them, it was all lip syncs, haha). Back in 2006 we made the music video to “Drift Away”.

Wow, 5 years ago! Now we’re meeting with them again, along with fellow collaborator Taiyo Na, to do a video for their song “Home:Word”. Currently available on iTunes, but also being rereleased on a deluxe album on Nov 29th.

New Web Series “Home is Where the Hans Are” ft. Ellen Wong and Randall Park

This week we are going into production for a 3 episode web series called “Home is Where the Hans Are”. It’s a project we’re very proud to be starting because it’s a joint production with a company called Fremantle Media, best known for their reality program, a small show you may have heard of… American Idol! What would the producers of American Idol want with Wong Fu?? Long story short, a division of their North American branch is trying to expand their new media side for television and web, and we were one of the production companies they reached out to. For the better part of this year we’ve been in development with them. It was a fairly long process since we’ve been so busy with other projects, but we’re finally ready to move onto production.

We don’t want to give away too much, but it’s a family comedy about a young man, Derrick, who returns home after years away to discover that the man his mother remarried to is Chinese. Surprise!

Starting off with “just” 3 episodes to see how it goes, and maybe if it does well, we can expand…but for now, this is where it starts.

What we’re most excited about for this project is the great cast we were able to assemble. We can’t wait to work with these extremely talented professionals.

For the major role of the Father we instantly knew who we wanted. Randall Park. We worked with him on our short “Too Fast” and have been following his indie work for several years. It’s easy to see how incredible he is as an actor and we’re very lucky to have him on board.

As Randall’s daughter we got our dream girl! We met Ellen Wong summer 2010 just after she finished working in the major motion picture “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World”. It turned out she was a fan of our work and we said when we met that we’d definitely find a project to work with her on. That time has come and we couldn’t be more fortunate that she had the time and excitement to join us.

Several other roles we went to open auditions for and we were amazed at how many great actors are out there. We wanted to cast so many of them, but only one could be chosen and we can’t wait for you to see them work.

ISA Festival LA THIS Weekend!!

By now you must’ve heard! Our biggest ISA ever is coming in just a few days! Coming right off the heels of an EPIC show in the San Francisco Bay Area last week, we’re about to take it to the next level. This year there was so much talent that we wanted to include that we had to take the show outdoors and make it an entire day FESTIVAL! It’s gonna be a super fun day. Food trucks, vendors, photobooths, and of course, a HUGE lineup. I can’t believe how big of a show this is. Even more, I can’t believe B.O.B and Sean Kingston are coming. I never would’ve thought WFP would share the same poster or stage with those guys. haha. So random, but so awesome. I don’t think this feeling will ever go away. It’s another wrap of another incredible ISA concert, and the emotions of joy, pride, and inspiration are more strong than ever. Over 2500 people in the San Jose Civic Auditorium, screaming their lungs out, dancing, smiling, laughing. It’s truly a sight to see.

While FM was giving their performance, I was on the side of the stage looking out at the crowd pressed against the front of the stage. I specifically looked at the faces of all the fans, trying to put myself in their shoes and guess what they were thinking based on their faces. Wide eyes, huge smiles, cameras up, hands reaching out. They’d snap a pic, show their friends, they’d say some words with smiles and laughter. I felt like we were really creating some strong and wonderful memories for these young people, and that makes me the most happy. Not the “fame” or popularity, not that we get to meet other “famous” people, none of that. It’s the fact that we are affecting lives in a positive way, even just for a night, one memory for them to look back on and say, wow…I remember that night with my friends at ISA in 2011, that was one of the best, most memorable nights of my life.

Thank you fans and supporters in San Jose and the entire Bay Area for coming out with incredible love and energy. We had a great time and you can be sure that we’ll be back again! Photos and more updates to trickle in… but for now… let’s flyyyyyYYYyyy! Up up here we go!!

I’m always in disbelief after every ISA concert. Last night’s show in Seattle was no different, if not even more. Each ISA, each year, I’m always amazed at the support from the fans, and how it’s growing and growing. I’m so glad that we were able to bring the show up to the Seattle area this summer. The people who came out showed us love and enthusiasm that was beyond what we were expecting. Selling out a show in less than 2 weeks, over 1500 people screaming and laughing, waiting in line for hours and hours, from as young as elementary school, to parents…we are so fortunate. It’s inspiring and humbling…

Thank you to the amazing artists who brought out the best for the show. Thank you to the ISA volunteers for working so hard. Thank you to Diana and the ISA staff who, without them, this show would not have happened. Thank you to Far East Movement, Kevin Wu, and Ryan Higa taking ISA on this great journey. And thank YOU! Even if you weren’t there physically, your spirit was there. In any city we go to, we can count on having super supporters and fans come out to show us love and that means the world to us. So the concert last night was with all of you out there. We are here because of you. Thank you. Really.

A full recap to come soon, but I just wanted to get something out on the spot. Just got home and “…feelin so fly like a… commercial commuter jet” haha.

This isn’t just a new website, it’s a new direction for International Secret Agents. Summer of Music Videos!

Is it just me or has this summer been filled with an unusually numerous amount of awesome music videos from within the community?? I’m not complaining though, I think this is incredible! I can’t remember any previous summer that had this many high quality official mvs come out around the same time and it really inspires me.

Really not trying to bring in the “race thang” again, but when I think about when I was in high school, there were NO Asians in music videos…oh wait, there was this one by One Voice. haha. And now, look, we have 5 come out, all different genres, all different directors! (WF is definitely not the only ppl who can make good videos, haha) This is truly change, for the better. I’m really proud of our friends creating this art and pursuing their dreams, and now, sharing it with others to hopefully inspire the next wave! Keep it up everyone!!
