For all you San Francisco people, this event is for you! My longtime friend, Gary, is part of this performance called HIDEO, that mixes live performance with video game and anime music. I’m sad I won’t actually be able to see it so I’m telling all you SF peoples to go so you can tell me all about it haha. Justkiddingsorta.

Here’s an official blurb about the awesome event: Hideo is a story expressed through both musical and dramatic performance. Over a dozen pieces of music have been selected from venerable Japanese animated series and video games. Weaved into a cohesive whole, this music has now inspired a new story. A diverse group of student and professional musicians and actors from all over California, brought together by their passion for anime and video games, will use their art to drive the narrative.

If I’ve stirred any interest in you, then you should definitely check this out. I’ve always been a fan of mixing media to create a new experience. More power to all the creatives out there!

AllKpop reviews ISA 2010

It’s been a couple weeks since ISA LA. I’ve been meaning to do a big photo dump of the epicness that was ISA 2010, but there’s just too much to go through, and we’re swamped right now. Luckily, there are much more capable people out there and today AllKPop, a HUGE korean pop news site released their review of the ISA 2010 concerts with a ton of great photos and video.

I say that not just because they liked the concert, but because they actually understood what ISA really stands for, the history, and how important it is to the community. I appreciate it when people write about things that they really research or are passionate about.

In just a short three years, ISA founders Wong Fu Productions and Far*East Movement have transformed this show from a community-based project to an internationally viral platform of creative inspiration. What truly defines ISA is the fascinating relationship between the audience and artists. Avid followers get to know these artists through their YouTube videos, tweets, blogs and Facebook updates. With content so raw and honest put into motion through social media, fans are able to instantly connect with their favorite artists. For these ISA attendees, it was as if they were cheering on their friends at a sports game or recital – the energy level was intimate yet vivaciously synergetic.

Funny note, a few days prior they blogged about our latest WFWeekends episode that featured Jay Park, but not only that, they talked about my Kpop dancing in the extended footage. lol Well, if we can’t get featured on the blog for BEING korean, might as well get in by trying to dance like them! Like, “holidays” but w/ a holl- yeah you get it.
For those of you in the SF Bay Area here’s a very cool show for you! Our friend Magnetic North are gonna be in town, and hey, what do you know? Sam Geunjin Kang is gonna be there too! So if you saw the latest music video, and liked his style, go see him live (he’s really great live). The money from tickets is going to the Vietname-based organization Aid for Children Without Parents’ “Saving Children in Criss” program. Definitely a good cause. It’s the holidays, let’s be grateful for the blessings we have and try to find ways to help those in need.

Ticket Tour kickoff was a blast!

The CNN piece was the big highlight of this past weekend and well, maybe this whole year so far… but another event that made this past Saturday super awesome was the kickoff of our ISA ticket tour! Held at Whimsical Yogurt in the New World Center in Hacienda Heights, it was a huge event. There were two tv stations there to cover it, $2000 worth of prizes being raffled out, contests for the fans, special guests, and of course, YOU the fans and supporters (over 200) who came out to have an afternoon of fun. FM, David Choi, and us getting ready to meet the fans. Check out the awesome posters behind us. Those were submissions for the “Best poster contest” The winner got tickets to ISA.

Got the assembly line going, but even though we’re only meeting them for just a few minutes, it still means a lot to us.Â

FM is touring with LMFAO right now! (I’m in Miami).Â These rockstars. Their song “Girls on the Dance Floor” is getting sooo much play around the nation now. They’re newest single was released on LA radio last week. Check it out!

There were a few eating contests to win tickets. California Roll contest, Yogurt contest, and here a Boba drinking contest. Each person had to chug TWO LARGE boba drinks. Wes participated, but didn’t really try, he just wanted the free drink. haha

There was also an epic Chubby Bunny contest for two Backstage passes (which are sold out). I don’t think these girls won, but seems like they’re just having fun, which is better than choking on marshmellows just to meet us and others at the show, lol.

We also had our new tshirts and merch on sale, available for the first time to the public. Oh shoot, did I just accidently leak the new designs? Ted is working suuuuper hard to get the new store live…it’ll be up realllyyyy soon guys, I promise. Then you can get your own “Pew Pew” shirt!

YOU! It was a really fun day. Even if you weren’t there, we know you got our back from afar. If you made it out and we got a picture together or something, it was great to meet you. Wes, Ted, and myself are constantly asking ourselves why we have such amazing supporters and acknowledging how lucky we are. We’ve got a few more ticket tour stops left. Tickets have been on sale since Saturday, and they’re already starting to go fast (I’m not kidding). Be sure to get your tickets sooner than later! Hit the jump for some top secret information.

Starting August 15th we’re doing to go on a ticket tour around the LA area. FM and us will personally be going to some special locations where you can meet and chill with us, get some cool new FM and Wong Fu gear, and also buy your tickets in person. The first stop will be in Hacienda Heights at Whimsical Yogurt on Saturday Aug. 15th in the afternoon. There’s gonna be giveaways and contests so don’t miss out. Check here for more event info! 2nd…JCPenney is sponsoring this next ISA, and we’re working with them to put on a really cool contest where you could win plane tickets to LA so that you can be in the show on Sept 6th! Here’s some secret info to give you a head start before we even launch the contest. We’re looking for a “breakout performer”. First, go to JCPenney and pick out something to wear in the video from their Back To School line. Then make a video of yourself showing off your talent. It could be anything (singing, dancing, juggling, yo-yo-ing, drawing). You’ll hafta submit the video and then get votes. More details to come, but thought I’d give you the heads up so you can start working on your videos NOW! If you win, we’re bringing you out to the show to perform for everyone!
